Welcome to the Salt Lake County Tailings Impoundment Study Website. Salt Lake County intends to conduct an evaluation of the geotechnical conditions on the Southeast Corner (from 1700 South to 9400 West) of the Kennecott South Tailings Impoundment. This site is intended to provide the public with materials, information, and updates regarding the Impoundment Study.

The Salt Lake County Kennecott Tailings Impoundment Committee is comprised of 12 Community Members and 5 Elected Officials that represent the Magna Community. The Committee is further staffed with geotechnical and tailings experts.
